Honest Essential Oils ™ – When Quality Counts

Honest Essential Oils™ is the brainchild of Lester and Michelle Moore, both scientists and natural health advocates. With backgrounds in both the pharmaceutical industry and in natural health, Michelle and Les offer a unique perspective on essential oils.

The purpose of Honest Essential Oils™ is to provide clarity on the selection of high-quality essential oils and to separate the facts from myths on oil purity and effectiveness. While essential oils can be made for a variety of different purposes and uses, our focus is on medicinal essential oils grown, harvested and distilled to exacting standards for therapeutic uses.

Alternative Medicine + Hard Core Science

Medicinal essential oils can work on a biochemical level in the body to address challenges objectively, reproducibly and scientifically. Essential oils can also work on an emotional and energetic level to bring healing and provide subjective benefits beyond the physical plane. By embracing both the art and the science of essential oils, a whole world of possibilities opens up for using these amazing plant substances.

Michelle’s Background

Michelle’s interest in essential oils began ten years ago when she suffered from recurring sinus and secondary viral infections. Essential oils were Michelle’s first introduction to the world of natural medicine and they played an important role in her recovery.

Michelle and Les Moore

Michelle graduated from Colorado State University with  B.S. in Biology and Minor in Microbiology. For almost 10 years she worked at a major pharmaceutical company as a microbiologist, testing antibiotics and other drug products. When she began suffering from infections, Michelle’s doctor prescribed many different courses of antibiotic drugs over the years. These drugs did little to help Michelle and their side effects wreaked havoc on her health. But she never thought to question taking more antibiotics. Antibiotics were the only treatment option she knew of and that’s what her doctor told her to do.

What turned Michelle’s life around was the discovery of natural medicine and the body’s amazing ability to heal itself. By using essential oils, making changes to her diet and lifestyle, and bringing her body back into balance, Michelle addressed the root cause and she regained her health.*

Shortly after her recovery, Michelle left the pharmaceutical industry and began to help others discover the power of natural medicine. Since 2004, Michelle has been a strong advocate for natural health and wellness through her websites, lectures, books, healing foods and other natural products. Michelle is also a proponent of prayer or energetic medicine and sees the importance of body, mind and spirit in addressing any health issue.

Lester’s Background

With an extensive background in chemistry, Les has a unique understanding of how essential oils work and how to identify oils of the highest quality. After graduating from Oral Roberts University, Les worked for 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry as an analytical chemist and in research and development. For several years Les developed gas chromatography (GC) methods for the testing of drug products, including methods for volatile organic compounds similar to those found in essential oils. Les also developed large scale production processes for drug products following FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations and guidelines.

Several years ago while living in Colorado, Les began suffering from chronic joint pain in his ankles and knees. The condition grew worse and started to interfere with the hiking and climbing he loved so much in the mountains. After seeing how Michelle turned her health around, Les began to treat the root cause of his health problems just as she did, discovering the benefits of essential oils in the process.*
